Detailed Solution

The above statement is correct. The Deccan plateau is a triangular-shaped plateau bounded by the Eastern and Western Ghats on its east and west. It covers the peninsular region starting from the south of River Narmada. The Vindhya and Satpura ranges are the northern boundary, while the southernmost point of the plateau is near Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu. It lies south of the Tropic of Cancer with an average elevation of 500 meters. It covers eight states - Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The plateau falls in the rain shadow area of the Western Ghats and receives very little rainfall. So the region is relatively dry compared to the coasts. The Krishna, Kaveri, and Godavari are some rivers traversing the plateau.
