Karnataka has a wealth of mineral resources, including limestone, granite, iron ore, and gold, and is the only Indian state which produces felsite. The southernmost iron belt in Karnataka, namely the Bellary-Chitradurga-Chikmagalur-Tumkur tract, has significant iron ore reserves in Kudremukh mines. High-grade hematite ore is in the Badampahar mines in the Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar districts of Odisha. Very high-grade hematites are in the Bailadila range of hills in Chhattisgarh's Bastar district. Ores in the Maharashtra-Goa belt are not up to high quality. But they are effectively mined.
