Detailed Solution

The above statement is true.
The tributaries of west-flowing rivers are small in size. There are several differences between the east-flowing and west-flowing rivers. Most of the rivers are east-flowing, draining into the Bay of Bengal, while some rivers like Narmada and Tapi flow westwards and drain into the Arabian Sea. The west-flowing rivers have small tributaries and flow through rift valleys. They form estuaries before draining into the Arabian Sea. No deltas are formed along the west coast since the rivers travel short distances and do not carry much silt. The fact that they flow through the rift valleys with hard rocks also accounts for the less silt content. Luni, Mahi, and Sabarmati are some other west-flowing rivers.
