In Victor Meyer's test, primary alcohol gives Red Colouration while secondary alcohol gives blue colouration. In this test alcohol is converted into iodide with either red phosphorous and iodine or conc. HI , then it is converted to nitroalkane using AgNO2 which then treated with nitrous acid and resulting product being made alkaline changes colour of solution .
