Let the equation of given circle be  x2+y2=a2 The equation of chord of contact of tangents drawn from the Px1,y1  point to the given circle is  xx1+yy1=a2

Since it passes through Qx2,y2

x1x2+y1y2=a2

Now, l1=x 12+y12a2,l2=x22+y22a2

And, PQ=x2x12+y2y12

=x12+y12+x22+y222a2     Using  1

=x12+y12a2+x22+y22a2=l12+l22
