STATEMENT-1: The force of friction in the case of a disc of mass m rolling without slipping down on inclined plane of inclination $\alpha$ is  $\frac{1}{3}mg\sin \alpha$ .
STATEMENT-2: When the disc rolls without slipping on inclined plane, friction is required because for rolling condition velocity of point of contact is zero.
