Detailed Solution

Since the cortex of root has intercellular spaces and cell walls and intercellular spaces offer no resistance to water and mineral movement the movement of mineral water from soil through root hair cell wall till the inner layer of cortex except is mainly apoplastic. If apoplast is saturated with minerals and water, the excess water and minerals seek into symplast of root hair through its plasma membrane and reaches the pericycle through cytoplasm and plasmodesmata.
