Statement 1

After painting one face with a colour its opposite face can be painted in 5 ways

Remaining 4 faces which have circular reference can be painted with 4 colours in 3! ways

Number of ways of painting a cube when faces are not identified =$5\times 3!=5\times 6=30$

Statement 2:

When the faces of a die are numbered from 1 to 6 number of ways of painting the cube is number of mappings 6 faces with 6 colours  =6!
