Statement (I) :  Nitrogen has higher IP₁ than oxygen

statement (II) :Outer E.C of VA group is ns² np³ (half filled) where as VI A group is ns² np⁴

In general, in a period ,IP₁  increase from left to right.

$\therefore$IP₁ of 'N' must be lesser than IP₁ of 'O'.

but due to stable configuration (ns²np³), IP₁ of 'N' is higher than expected.

$\therefore$IP₁ of 'N' > IP₁ of 'O'
