Stinging cells (cnidocytes) are characteristically present in cnidarians. They help in anchorage, defence and prey capture. Sea walnuts are ctenophores. They lack cnidocytes but possess glue cells called lasso cells or colloblasts. Formerly Ctenophora was also called as Acnidaria due to the absence of cnidocytes.
