Strip cropping helps in the conservation of soil.
Strip cropping is a farming method practised on slopes to reduce the rate of soil erosion. It is practical in areas where erosion has led to reduced soil fertility. The large fields are divided into narrow strips, each with a different crop. Crop rotation is practised on these crops to enrich soil fertility. Nitrogenous crops are grown in between for the addition of soil nutrients and to improve soil fertility. Strip cropping helps in reducing the rate of erosion and increases the water infiltration rate. The reduced speed of water due to the layers help in the deposition of eroded sand particles.
