Anai Mudi is the highest peak of the western ghats. It is situated in the Idukki district of Kerala. The western ghats, also known as the Sahyadri mountain range. Starting from Gujarat, the western ghats run parallel to the west coast and pass through the states of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala. Anai Mudi, situated at an elevation of 2,695 metres, is also known as the Everest of South India. This region has a variety of species and biological diversity. The Western Ghats are the world's eighth hotspot of biodiversity. One of the endemic species found here is the dancing frog, also known as the torrent frog.
