Detailed Solution

The western ghats run parallel to the west coast of the Indian Peninsula. They stretch for 1600 kilometres in length and cover an area of 1600 square kilometres. It is also known as the Sahyadri mountain range, are continuous and can be passed through passes only. It runs through the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and parts of Tamil Nadu. By allowing rain-bearing moist breezes to climb up the Western Ghats' western slopes, the Western Ghats create orographic rain. The Western Ghats gradually rise in height from north to south. The Doda Betta and Anai Mudi (2,695 metres) are among the highest peaks.
