Detailed Solution

An oxidant is that whose oxidation number decreases in a redox reaction by gain of an electron or electrons. Writing oxidation number of Sulphur atoms in the given answers, we have :

(1) PbO2+SO2 PbSO4       [ S  :+4 to+6]  reducing agent (2) SO2+H2OH2SO3          [ S :No change in o.s ](3) 3Fe+SO22FeO+FeS   [S :+4 to -2]  oxidising agent(4) 2NaOH+SO2Na2SO3+H2O [S:No change in o.s]

From above, we see that the oxidation number of sulphur decreases from +4 to -2 in reaction (3). So, in this reaction, SO2 acts as an oxidant.
