Given two numbers, their sum is 97.
Let the two numbers by x and y where x is the larger number.

x + y = 97

……….(1)
As per the given condition,
If, larger number is divided by smaller, the quotient is 7 and remainder is 1.

x = 7 y + 1

………..(2)
Substituting equation (2) in equation (1), we get,

7 y + 1 + y = 97

8 y = 96

y = 12

Substituting

y = 12

in equation (2),

∴ x = 7 (12) + 1 = 85

Therefore, option (4) is correct.
