Detailed Solution

The acceleration due to gravity on the surface of this planet is 19.6m/s2.
Given data and assumptions:
Let the mass of the planet, Mp=Me2
Mass of the earth, =Me
Let the radius of the planet, Rp=Re2
Radius of the earth, =Re
Accelerationn due to gravity on earth,ge=9.81 m/s2
Acceleration due to gravity on the planet is = gp
We know, acceleration due to gravity on the earth is given by the formula,
                       ge = × MeRe2
Now put the corresponding values of the planet in the above formula,
       gp = × Mp(Rp)2
     gp = ×Me2 (Re2)2
     gp = 4××Me 2×Re2
     gp = 2××Me Re2
                gp = 2× ge
     gp = 2 × 9.8 m/s2
     gp = 19.6 m/s2
