Swaraj Party was formed by C. R. Das and Motilal Nehru within Congress.
The Swaraj Party, the Congress-Khilafat Swaraj Party, was an ideological group framed in India on 1 January 1923. The party wanted more prominent self-government and political opportunity for the Indian nation from the British Raj. In 1922, in the Gaya meeting of the Congress, C R Das, who was directing the meeting, moved a proposition to enter the governing bodies, yet it was crushed. Consequently, Das and different pioneers split away from Congress and shaped the Congress-Khilafat Swarajya Party. Thus C.R.Das became the president, and Nehru was one of the secretaries.
