Detailed Solution

The adrenal cortex, specifically the zona fasciculata, produces glucocorticoids such as cortisol. The release of cortisol is regulated by the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis. The anterior pituitary gland secretes ACTH in response to corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) from the hypothalamus. ACTH, in turn, stimulates the adrenal cortex to synthesise and release glucocorticoids, including cortisol.
Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) stimulates the thyroid gland to produce and release thyroid hormones.
Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) stimulates the development of ovarian follicles in females and sperm production in males.
Antidiuretic hormone (ADH), also known as vasopressin, regulates water balance and blood pressure by influencing water reabsorption in the kidneys.
