Tahir measured the distance around a square field as 200 rods (lathi). Later he found that the length of this rod was 140cm. Then the side of this field in meters is 70 m.
Given that,
Distance around a square field is 200 rods and length of the rod is 140 cm.
We have to find side of the field in meters.
We will use the formula,
Total distance around a square field = Perimeter of a square field.

\Rightarrow 200 = 4 \times side

\Rightarrow side = \frac{200}{4}

\Rightarrow side = 50 rods

∴ 1 rod = 140 cm

∴ 50 rods = 50 \times 140 = 7000 cm

As we want the length in meters,

1 m = 100 cm

\Rightarrow 1 m = \frac{1}{100} cm

∴ \frac{7000}{100} = 70 m

Hence, the side of the field is 70m.
