Tamil natives of Sri Lanka are called Indian Tamils. Sri Lanka constitutes a wide diversity of people. Such diversity includes various ethnic groups in which Sri Lankan Tamils also reside. Tamil ethnic groups of Sri Lanka are known as Sri Lankan Tamils. Sri Lankan Tamils constitute about 13 per cent of the total population. Sri Lankan Tamils are known as members of the Srilankan Tamil ethnic group. The rest of the Tamils are the Indian Tamils whose ancestors migrated from India to work on the plantation. Similarly, Sinhalas constitute about 74 per cent of Sri Lanka. The other major social group is Tamil Speakers, who constitute almost 18 per cent of the country.
