Tawa Matsya Singh is a federation of fishery workers' co-operatives. This organisation fights for the rights of displaced forest dwellers of the Saputara forest in Madhya Pradesh. The Tawa dam was initially built in 1958 and was completed in 1978. Building this dam submerged a large area of forest land and agricultural land. The forest dwellers who were earning their livelihood lost their land. Tawa Matsya Sangh organisation fought against this government through various agitations.
