Detailed Solution

It is given that a person travels 110 km, he pays Rs.690 and for travelling 200 km, he pays Rs.1050.
Let, fixed charge be Rs.x and the rate per kilometer = Rs.y.
Then,
x+110y=690... 1    x+200y=1050... 2
Now from equation (1)
x=690-110y     … (3)
Substitute the value of x=690-110y in equation (2)
  x + 200y = 1050 690110y + 200y = 1050 690+ 90y = 1050 90y = 1050690 90y=360 y= 360 90 y=40
Putting the value of y = 40 in equation (3) to find the value of x:
x=690110y x=690110 40 x=690440 x=250
Therefore, the fixed charges are Rs. 250 and the rate per kilometer are Rs.40.
Hence, option (1) is correct.
