Teak and Sal species were promoted for the building of ships and railways. The British government enacted the Forest Act to conserve the forest and restrict the local people from entering it, but they used these forest trees to make ships and Railways. Villagers were affected by this loss. The forest department wanted the trees to build ships or Railways. Hardwood was needed for this, which was tall and straight. So trees like Teak and Sal were cultivated, and other trees were cut down.
