Telugu Desam is an important regional party in Andhra Pradesh.
Active in the southern states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the Telugu Desam Party is a regional Indian political party. The party came into existence on 29 March 1982 and was founded by N.T. Rama Rao. N. Chandrababu Naidu, former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, has been heading the party since 1995. The headquarters of the party is located at NTR Bhavan in Hyderabad. It is a Party with a powerful presence both at a central level and in state politics. In the 8th Lok Sabha from 1984 to 1989 Telugu Desam Party was the first regional party to become the main opposition party.
