Temperate grasslands can be found in the higher elevations of mountainous regions.
They are open areas with grassy plains and very few trees. These areas receive 20 or 35 cm of rainfall on average. Grasses can be short or tall according to the temperature and precipitation of the area. If the temperature is colder with little precipitation, grasses will be shorter, and grasses will be taller if the temperature is warmer with more precipitation. Different names are known for temperate grasslands in different places of the world. For example, Steppes in Russia, Pustaz in Hungary, Prairies in North America, Pampas in South America, etc.
