Hemadpanti temples are Maharashtra temples built between the 12th and 13th centuries. The outside walls of Hemadpanti temples are shaped like stars. This style is named after its originator, Hemadpant (1259-1274 CE). He had been the Seuna Yadavas of Devagiri's court's high minister. The outside walls of the temple have a zigzag design in the star-shaped plan. This creates a fascinating effect of light and shadow alternating. Masonry is an important feature of the Hemadpanti temple. The walls are constructed without the use of mortar by locking the stones together with the process known as on and mortise joints.
