Detailed Solution

The tenure of a Rajya Sabha member is six (6) years.
The Rajya Sabha (Upper House) is part of the Parliament. It can have a maximum of 250 members (238 elected + 12 nominated). However, at present, its strength is 245 (233 elected + 12 nominated). 12 members are nominated who are specialised persons coming from renowned fields like art, drama, films, music etc. There is no tenure or time period decided for the upper house as it is a non-dissolving body. Every member of the household has their position for six years and then retires.
