Detailed Solution

Thanjavur was the capital of Cholas. Vijayalaya, a member of the ancient Chola royal line from Uraiyur, took the delta from the Mutharaiyar. Thanjavur, which he built, eventually became the capital of the Cholas. Rajaraja and Rajendra built the beautiful Thanjavur and Gangaikondacholapuram temples, which are works of art in architecture and sculpture. Chola temples were typically the focal point of the villages that developed around them. The Rajarajeshvara temple in Thanjavur has the tallest shikhara among temples of the time. The construction was challenging because there were no cranes and the 90-ton stone for the shikhara's top was too heavy to carry by hand. As a result, the architects designed an incline up to the temple's pinnacle.
