Detailed Solution

The Equal Remuneration Act provides that equal wages should be paid for similar work. In India, the Equal Remuneration Act was enacted in 1976. The Equal Wages Act guarantees equal compensation for equal work for male and female employees. According to the Act, there shouldn't be any discrimination against female employees regarding remuneration, promotions, etc. However, men are paid more than women for the same labour in rural and urban locations. Women are paid less than men in practically all occupations, including sports, the arts, manufacturing, and labour-intensive sectors, even though they perform the same tasks. Women are marginalised and exploited in patriarchal societies due to gender division.
