Detailed Solution

The Rank and Pay of a Mansadabar were decided by a numerical value called Zat.
The Mughals hired a wide range of people as their empire grew to include numerous places. They grew from a small core of Turani Turkish nobility to include Iranians, Indian Muslims, Afghans, Rajputs, Marathas, and other ethnic groups. Mansabdars were the title given to anyone who enlisted in the Mughal army. An individual who possesses a Mansab—a position or rank—is referred to as a Mansabdar. The Mughals employed this grading system to establish (1) rank, (2) pay, and (3) military obligations. A number called Zat was used to calculate rank and pay. The noble's position in the court was more prominent and paid more when the Zat was higher.
