The Constituent Assembly drafted the Indian Constitution. The inaugural meeting of the Indian Constituent Assembly was conducted on December 9th, 1946. The people in provincial legislative assemblies chose the members of the Constituent Assembly. Members of the Constituent Assembly had to present oral arguments and persuade their fellow members about various Constitutional clauses. The Constituent Assembly had eight primary committees covering a variety of topics. Jawaharlal Nehru, Rajendra Prasad, and B.R. Ambedkar served as the committee chairs. Each committee created a set of provisions that were discussed and debated.
