Detailed Solution

The Dutch colonised Indonesia in the 1600s and managed the local forest areas. The Dutch policies for managing Indonesia's forests were comparable to those the British put in place in India. In the Indonesian Java region, the Dutch started managing the forests. The Dutch desired to export Javan timber for building ships, just like the British did. In Java, the Dutch imposed forest restrictions in the nineteenth century that limited villagers' access to the forests. Villagers were only permitted to harvest wood, in accordance with the forest laws, to build houses or riverboats. Villagers were only allowed to use certain forest areas under strict monitoring.
