Detailed Solution

The red colour undergoes minimum deviation while passing through a glass prism.
“Phenomenon of splitting of white light into its constituent colours is known as dispersion of light”. When white light falls on the surface of the prism it splits into its constituent colours. Different coloured lights have different wavelengths and speeds in air or glass. Because of different speeds, they have different refractive indexes for the same medium such as glass or air. Each light deviate with some angle of deviation towards the base of the prism while emerging out. Angle of deviation is inversely proportional to speed of light. Violet light has minimum speed and maximum deviation in glass whereas red light has a maximum speed in glass and minimum deviation.
