The Gaddi shepherds of Himachal Pradesh have a cycle of seasonal movement. Gaddis are semi-nomadic, semi-agricultural, and semi-pastoral tribes.
They move during the summer and winter seasons. For example, Gaddi tribes move in April and spend their summer in Lahaul and Spiti. The Gaddi live in the low hills of Shivalik during the winter, as high mountains are covered with snow. Their cattle graze in the scrub forests. Gaddis is a scheduled tribe of Himachal Pradesh and the native of the hilly tracts.
