The Tropic of Cancer divides the country into two equal parts. The Tropic of cancer is the northern latitude on the earth's surface where the sun is directly overhead. It lies 23 1/2 degrees north of the equator. On 21st June, during summer, the sun lies above the Tropic of cancer. This day is also called the summer solstice when the northern hemisphere experiences the longest day and the shortest night. Recent studies show that the position of the Tropic Of Cancer is not fixed, and it gradually moves towards the south.
