Detailed Solution

The Vindhya hills are close to the river Narmada.
The Vindhya Range in west-central India is a complex, erratic network of mountain ridges, hill ranges, highlands, and plateau escarpments. Both the Sanskrit and Hindi names for the Vindhya range end with the suffix Achala, which designates a mountain. However, the escarpments, hills, and highlands of Central India to the north of the Narmada River are generally considered to be the Vindhyas. The southern escarpment of India's central upland is formed by the fractured Vindhya Group, a range of hills. It starts in the western state of Gujarat and travels through Madhya Pradesh for around 675 miles (1,086 km) until it ends on the Ganges (Ganga) River valley close to Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
