The ulama in North India was anxious about the collapse of the Muslim dynasties.
The fall of Muslim dynasties greatly alarmed the ulama in north India. They were concerned that the colonial authorities would promote conversion and alter Muslim personal law. So they released sacred text translations in Persian and Urdu, printed religious periodicals and tracts, and employed inexpensive lithographic presses to combat this. Since the Deoband Seminary was established in 1867, it has written countless fatwas explaining the meaning of Islamic concepts and advising Muslim readers on how to conduct themselves in daily life.
