Detailed Solution

The Green Revolution helped Indian farmers produce more rice and wheat in the late 1960s, and they began using seeds from high-yielding kinds (HYVs). The HYV seeds, in contrast to traditional seeds, claimed to produce a large number of improved grain yields from a single plant. Therefore, compared to the time when conventional methods were employed, the same piece of land would already produce far more food grains. The best results can be achieved by combining HYV seeds with irrigation, chemical fertilisers, herbicides, etc. The wheat yield produced in villages using the conventional types was 1300 kg per hectare. The output increased to 3200 kg per hectare with the HYV seeds.
