Detailed Solution

The Mongols' northwest invasions challenged the Delhi Sultans' rule.
These invasions were led by Genghis Khan, who invaded Transoxiana in the northeastern region of Iran in 1219. After this, Mongol attacks on the Delhi Sultanate drastically increased during the reigns of Alauddin Khilji and Muhammad bin Tughluq. However, it led to both the Sultans mobilising a large standing army. Nevertheless, Alauddin was successfully able to prevent the Mongol invasion.
