Detailed Solution

The blind spot is a point in the retina where no photosensitive cells are present.
In humans, the optic nerve fibres pass through the retina and out of the back of the eyeball. The area where the bundled nerve fibres pass through the retina does not contain light-sensitive cells. This means we don't see the light that hits this exact spot. This spot is therefore known as the blind spot. Although we technically cannot see this light, our brain can usually fill in the information we are missing based on the other things around the blind spot. Blind spots can be spotted by following the given exercise.
Place your left thumb next to your right thumb. Keep looking at your right thumb and slowly move your left thumb to the left. When it disappears, you find your left eye's blind spot.
