Detailed Solution

The Indian National Congress led the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government from 2004 to 2014.
United Progressive Alliance is commonly known as UPA. It is a coalition party formed by the Indian National Congress. UPA was formed after the general elections in 2004 when no single party could secure a majority on its own to form the government in the national legislature. The Indian National Congress leads the UPA at the centre, with Sonia Gandhi as the chairperson of the alliance. United Progressive Alliance is a predominantly centrist-leftist alliance. UPA registered its win again in the next general elections held in 2009 after winning in 2004. Thus, Congress Party led the UPA government from 2004 till 2014.
