Detailed Solution

The Sixteen Mahajanpadas were considered the whole of India. With the acquisition of enormous regions, the Janapadas became the Mahajanapadas. In ancient times, India was divided into 16 kingdoms. It was the later Vedic period, which lasted approximately 2500 years. When the people (tribes) of this period decided to organise their territorial communities, they formed new and permanent settlement zones known as states or Janapadas. Ganas and Sanghas existed during the Mahajanapadas period. Each Mahajanapada was fortified with its capital. Magadha, Kashi, Anga, Kosala, Panchala, Avanti, and Kuru are some Mahajanapadas' names.
