The periodisation of Indian history that James mills offer was in three periods.
James Mill was a Scottish economist and philosopher who wrote the book “A History of British India ”, which was written in three volumes. In this book, James mill divided India into British times in three periods, the first was Hindu, the second was Muslim, and the third was British. These periods were divided based on the rulers that existed before British India because there were Hindu rulers before British rule in India, and after that, Muslim rulers existed. So that’s the reason that James mill offers a periodisation.
