Detailed Solution

The lost-wax process is also known as cire-perdue. It is a metal casting technique in which molten metal is poured into a mould created from a wax model. After the mould is made, the wax model is melted and drained away. Using a method known as lost-wax casting, a duplicate metal sculpture can be created from an original sculpture. This technique can be used to produce elaborate works of art. The oldest examples of this technology are considered to be around 6,500 years old and were discovered on gold artefacts at Bulgaria's Varna Necropolis. Investment casting, in its industrial version, is a common method for producing precise metal parts in engineering and manufacturing.
