Detailed Solution

The Balkan region became an area of intense conflict after 1871.
The Balkans experienced an upsurge in war after 1871. Modern-day Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Serbia, and Montenegro were all part of it. Slavs were the people who lived in this region. The spread of nationalist ideas, combined with the fall of the Ottoman Empire, made this region unstable. A series of Balkan wars triggered the First World War in 1914. During this time, nationalism's ideology shifted, becoming a narrow creed with limited goals. Many countries around the world were fighting anti-imperial movements with the help of their tailored notions of nationalism at this point. The anti-imperial movements were nationalist in that they all fought to establish sovereign nation-states and were motivated by a sense of camaraderie that was created by fighting imperialism.
