The Mesolithic Age was a transitional phase between the Palaeolithic Age and the Neolithic Age.
The melting of glaciers and the subsequent replacement of those areas with dense forests marked the beginning of the Mesolithic period, also known as the Middle Stone Age. From approximately 12,000 years ago to 10,000 years ago, this time frame is covered. Microliths are little tools from this time, including spearheads and arrowheads. Agriculture was probably also practised to some degree. Animal domestication began, with dogs being the most important. The Middle Stone Age, sometimes referred to as the Mesolithic Age, was the second stage of the Stone Age. It lasted from 9,000 B.C. to 4,000 B.C. in India. Microliths, characteristic of this period, first emerged (small bladed stone tools). Between the Palaeolithic and the Neolithic eras, there was a transitional period known as the Mesolithic Age.
