The four varnas were the Brahmins- they were the Priests who were considered to be the most important people in society. They used to conduct all the rituals. The second were the Kshatriyas, or the war class, their main task was to fight the enemies or rather engage in battles. The third were the Vaishyas, or the traders. The fourth were the Shudras, they were considered as untouchables.
