Detailed Solution

(5+7x)(7x2y+3y)

=5(7x2y+3y)+7x(7x2y+3y)

=35x2y+15y+49x3y+21xy

(or)

Number of terms in (5+7x)=2

Number of terms in (7x2y+3y)=2

 Total number of terms =2×2=4

(It satisfies only, when the terms are not same in two polynomials)

For example,

Number of terms of (x+1)(x+2)  is

(x+1)(x+2)=x(x+2)+1(x+2)

=x2+2x+x+2

=x2+3x+2

 Number of terms =3

But for the above problem me take 2×2=4 .

In (x+1)(x+2) , variable same and degree same. So we can’t take here 2×2 .
