$x S = x - 3 x^{2} + 5 x^{3} - ........$

$\Rightarrow (1 + x) S = 1 - 2 [x - x^{2} + x^{3} - ........]$

$\Rightarrow S = \frac{1 + x - 2 x}{{(1 + x)}^{2}} = \frac{1 - x}{{(1 + x)}^{2}} = 2$ $[∵ | x | < 1]$
