Detailed Solution

The mangroves are the forests found in coastal areas. These forests are associated with long-rooted trees having adaptations to survive in the marshy lands. These lands have less oxygen content. The breathing roots of the mangroves support the plant in obtaining optimum resources for photosynthesis. Some parts of the roots are exposed to air to get oxygen since the soil has a deficit of oxygen content. During tides, the majority of the roots are hidden by water. When the tides are low, they get exposed. Since these mangroves are found in the coastal areas of West Bengal and Assam, they are influenced by tides. Mangroves are crucial to preventing soil erosion and have rich flora and fauna.
